I turned 30 today. I feel old.

- The Jehovah's Witnesses thought it would be the last year before the "END."
- The movie, "The Giant Spider Invation" was released about a swarm of spiders from another dimension that were coming to attack Wisconsin.
- The MITS Altair 8800 is released.
- Arthur Ashe becomes the first black man to win Wimbledon in a singles match.
- Saturday Night Live is broadcast for the first time.
- Wheel of Fortune premieres.
- Angeline Jolie and Tiger Woods were born.
- Bobbly Fischer refuses to play in a chess match against Anatoly Karpov, giving Karpov the title.
- Color television transmissions began in Australia.
